Pagi ini amik 'off' kejap dari 'physical activities' after a very tiring day semalam.Last night main futsal dengan zick & co.Bangun tadi pun rasa macam dah nak tercabut sendi-sendi.Sebab keadaan badan yang dah teruk kena amik extra recovery time.After solat subuh aku baca online newspaper.Untuk hari ini tak banyak berita yang menarik perhatian aku.Israel and Palestine conflict still remains as the headline.Tadi sambil browse through Utusan punya stories aku jumpa 2 topik yang menarik perhatian.First about multi-medium school and another is about PPSMI.
Multi-medium school had caught our attention at the end of last year.During a Parlimientary meeting session,son of our former prime minister had suggested that we change from multi-medium school to single medium school.It means we will only have one school that using probably english as the medium for PNP.His suggestion has taken the whole Parliament by storm.Many political figures go against him.In todays newspaper,current TPM says that a multi-medium system is better compared to single medium school.This is because it helps to fulfilled each race needs.
Meanwhile some experienced teachers had a different opinion about this issue.Some of them said a single medium school will help to improve the competitiveness amongst students.Compared to currently adopted multi-medium schools which saw schools divided according to races,gathering all the students together with different backgrund will help to increase competitiveness.In addition, students can be shape using the same mould and help to built the unity.In the same time students can learn about other races culture.If this idea is applied,it looks like idea of Malaysia race can be accomplished.Disability to understand each other can cause disharmony.Certain parties might talk about all the problems that we may face but resist to talk about the advantage.It may sound harsh but they are being too pessimist.We should try to study the ide and evaluate all the pro's and con's in details.The suggested single medium schools might help to built the unity begin from the youngster.
Another issue that caught my attention is PPSMI.Learning science and mathemathics wasn't new in our country.It had been applied for more than 6 years and there're no more books,text and activities in Malay's in the market.Lately there are few intelecs sounds their discomfort about the system.Some of them are questioning about the integrity of government in preserving the Malay language.At the moment except Science and Mathematics,other subject still using Malay language as the medium.In my father opinion,those who were suggesting to looks back to Malay language as the medium to teach Science and Mathematics is not thinking about others future but only for the sake of their popularity.
After few years we can see that public exam result keep on increase(don't know whether the ministry cheat or not).Besides,if we back track and used back Malay language it will cost more money.Text books and activities books need to be reprint and it only benefiting the printing company.Besides PPSMI helps Malay students to master English language.Mastering English will further help students while pursuing their studies in university.At the moment there's no more books in Malay language and even subject related to Malaysia also in English.It also helps Malay's students to keep in touch with the other races counterpart.Ability to master English also will help to make it easier to communicate amongst students because English is regarded as main language use worldwide.
